Stars Initially Became Close Almost A Decade Ago

The roots of the Eminem/Mariah Carey feud were revealed by Carey's former manager, Damion "Damizza" Young. According to Young, the two first crossed paths when Carey was reportedly sought out to appear in Eminem's 2002 film 8 Mile. Surprisingly, the diva wasn't cast to be Em's girlfriend in the movie--she was supposedly considered for the role of his mother; a role that subsequently went to Oscar-winner Kim Basinger.

Despite what many would consider a slight, Carey declined the role but the experience brought she and Slim Shady closer together. And Young revealed how intense the brief relationship was.

"Em even violated his probation to be with Mariah in New York before their relationship blew into an epic, 'he said, she said.'" Young added that he told the two not to get involved with each other. "I warned them both, but they didn't listen. The guy [Eminem] eats pop stars for a living. Say one thing he doesn't like, he's gonna attack."
