MC Says He Joined Legendary Crew In 2005

Redman has announced that he's the eleventh member of Staten Island pioneers the Wu-Tang Clan. The respected lyricist has long been affiliated with Wu member Method Man, but only now is he claiming actual membership in the collective that is among one of the most respected and influential acts in hip hop history.

"I am a Wu-Tang member and Method Man, he been a Death Squad member way before I was a Wu member," Redman said. "I was like a Wu member but I wasn't official. But E. [Erick] Sermon made him Meth a death squad member back in the day. I became a Wu member about 5 years ago. I am the 11th member of Wu."

Redman wasn't featured on the Wu-Tang Clan's last album, 2008's 8 Diagrams, nor has it ever been made public that Red is in the group officially.

Redman's latest album Reggie is due in stores on December 7th.
