Nelly Defends His Recent Career Woes

Nelly got into a somewhat awkward (heated?) exchange with The Breakfast Club's Charlamagne Tha God regarding his hip hop career and how it has seemingly fizzled as of late. The St. Lunatic got defensive when it was proclaimed that his music had gotten stale.

"Oh, you think so?" he said. "I only had one record that didn’t have a number one record on. The last record I put out, I had a number one record. I sold five million records. Put out six singles."

"It’s definitely a young man’s game and it’s about survival. You get to a point where it’s just about turning pages. When you old not as in age, but old as in you been in the game for a minute, like 12+ years, it’s been a long time," he said. "Nothing continues to excel. It’s called a career for a reason. You got your ups, you got your downs. But as long as you around, that’s the thing."
