R&B singer Chris Brown was called out by a British retail chain last week, when they slapped (no pun intended) a warning label on his new album, Fortune. The unofficial label 'warned' potential purchasers: "WARNING: DO NOT BUY THIS ALBUM! THIS MAN BEATS WOMEN." The label is a not-at-all-subtle reference to Brown's infamous 2009 domestic abuse incident involving his former girlfriend, pop star Rihanna.
But Breezy's camp says the label could be a good thing.
“We were as surprised as anyone when the stickers appeared," said a rep for the singer. "Obviously someone must have snuck in to put them on a handful of CD’s… I guess they got their point across pretty effectively – with widespread coverage around the world, though, by the same token, quite a few more people now know there’s a new Chris Brown album out.”
