The Queen of Hip Hop Soul knows a thing or two about being labeled a "bad girl."
In the early 1990s, Mary J. Blige was criticized heavily for her behavior during interviews, her supposedly wild personal life, and a host of other things that she would eventually grow out of as she matured into the star that we know today. So maybe she's taking up for pop star Rihanna because she recalls those days of public scrutiny.
"They give her a hard time because she's living her life," Blige says in a VIBE interview.
"As long as she's having fun and isn't three minutes away from wanting to shoot herself, good!" MJB added. "I want her to be happy. That's impressive to me. And I love her songs. Adele also gives me hope. God bless Amy Winehouse. She was just the perfect thing."
