"Oprah's Next Chapter" with Beyonce premieres this weekend, but an excerpt has been released from the highly-anticipated interview. In the clip, Bey discussed her relationship with hip-hop superstar Jay-Z--and she reveals just how slow they initially took things when they got together.

"I would not be the woman I am if I did not go home to that man. It just gives me such a foundation," said Mrs. Carter. "We were friends first for a year and a half before we went on any date--on the phone for a year and a half. And that foundation is so important in a relationship. Just to have someone that you just like is so important. Someone that is honest."
