NBA Legend Joins Jordan & Barkley's Criticism 6:00AM ET July 22, 2010 Contributor : Hip Hop Blog Staff A Rocky Williform Company
And yet another retired NBA legend is giving his two cents on LeBron James joining the star-studded Miami Heat this offseason. Coming on the heels of comments made by Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley, L.A. Laker great Magic Johnson shared his feelings on what has become the most talked-about sports news story of the year. Magic said that his generation of NBA greats wouldn't have attempted what the "SuperFriends" in Miami are doing now. "We didn’t think about it cause that’s not what we were about,” said Johnson. “From college, I was trying to figure out how to beat [rival and Celtics star] Larry Bird. It was never a question in our mind because nobody has ever done that."
Just a few days ago, fellow Hall of Famer Jordan told reporters that, "There's no way, with hindsight, I would've ever called up Larry, [or] called up Magic and said, 'Hey, look, let's get together and play on one team.'" Current NBA analyst and ring-less Hall of Famer Charles Barkley chimed in with: "There would have been something honorable about staying in Cleveland and trying to win it as 'The Man' ... LeBron, if he would've in Cleveland, and if he could've got a championship there, it would have been over the top for his legacy, just one in Cleveland. No matter how many he wins in Miami, it clearly is Dwyane Wade's team."
