Benny Boom Any hip hop fan that rushes home to catch the latest video shows or sits on YouTube watching the vids of all their favorite rappers is familiar with the work of talented lensman Benny Boom.

Nominated for the BET Hip Hop Award for Video Director of the Year, Boom sits near the top of his craft as a visual artist and director. Building his reputation with over a decade of stellar work as a music video director; in the past year alone, he's directed videos for Yo Gotti, Waka Flocka Flame and Monica.

He's founded is own multi-faceted production company Gorilla Flix, Inc. and in 2009 this mega director helmed his first feature, the Mos Def action-comedy Next Day Air, and is now on board to direct the sequel to the action blockbuster S.W.A.T., (entitled S.W.A.T.: Fire Fight) which has begun principal photography in Detroit. The film is scheduled to hit theaters in the summer of 2011.

Over the past 18 months, Boom has done what some more acclaimed video directors have been unable to do successfully--transition into major motion pictures. And with upcoming video projects including Lil Wayne and J.Cole, it doesn't appear that the director is abandoning his first love anytime soon.
