Ozone Magazine is the South's most respected hip hop publication. Driving the publication's success is Julia Beverly, who founded Ozone when she was only 20 years old. She grew the initially-photo heavy magazine into one of the industry's most revered names in print media and is continuing the push online.
Ozone has landed some notable interviews over the past year, including Lil Wayne and Gucci Mane. Beverly is noted for her ability to diversify her brand while raising it's visibility; she hired Slim Thug to do an Ozone party in Alaska and filmed him for an Ozone TV program while scouting up-and-coming artists.
Legendary Houston rapper Scarface said of Beverly: "I really respect what she does. Ozone has always told [the South's] side of the story. There was a whole market down here that was making noise, and you only heard about some of it. Now, thanks to Ozone, you hear about all of it."
Beverly can hold claim that she published Young Jeezy's first interview, and T-Pain's first photo shoot in Ozone over the years. She was honored for her career and ongoing success at the Women In Hip Hop event in Atlanta.
