Ice Cube remains a respected veteran recording artist in the hip hop industry, but his legacy extends far beyond his pioneering work with N.W.A. and his incendiary solo recordings. Cube is one of hip hop's most versatile businessmen and entrepreneurs, who is quietly cultivating a formidable independent entertainment empire. The rapper/actor/director/producer has parlayed his status as a respect rhymer into a broad range of ventures.
In August 2010, Cube released the summer comedy Lottery Ticket and produced a television based on his popular Are We There Yet? film series. The West Coast hip hop legend also produced the documentary "Straight Outta L.A," about the NFL's short-lived Los Angeles Raiders. "There was nothing in sports that had greater impact on me than the Raiders moving to L.A.," Cube said. "To me, it had all the ingredients for a good movie." He joined the cast of the upcoming film Rampart with Woody Harrelson and Ben Foster.
Returning to his 'day job' as a hip hop recording artist, Cube released I Am the West in fall 2010. He's also announced plans to work on his son OMG's debut album.
