Tim Westwood is the U.K.'s most visible and preeminent hip hop media personality. Westwood hosts the top ranked hip-hop show in the UK, which is also the second highest rated show in the history of MTV Europe. Westwood’s Saturday night events in North London’s Temple Nightclub regularly attracted more than 3,500 people, and that number only increased after he brought in celebrities like Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes and Lil’ Kim.
His exclusive interviews on Tim Westwood TV have only cemented his status as Britain's top hip hop voice. His interview with Drake, in particular, was one of the rapper's most star-making moments. Westwood has been involved with the U.K. hip hop scene since the late 80s, but his visibility has increased exponentially in the United States over the past year, so much so, that he's become the subject of parody--a true mark of fame. He's also host of MTV Europe's "Pimp My Ride."
As more UK hip hop/urban artists like Dizzee Rascal, Jay Sean and M.I.A. have gained visibility in the States, Westwood's global presence has only increased.
