DJ Toomp has long been one of the most admired individuals in southern hip-hop; having begun his career as a DJ, touring with early southern rap stars like MC Shy-D & JT Money.
Now an in-demand producer, Toomp has worked with seemingly everyone from Rick Ross to Ludacris as he's built a resume as long and as varied as his career itself. "After playing so many records, I really wanted to [produce]," Toomp revealed to Ozone. "Around '84, I was winning every DJ battle, and I felt like I had taken DJing to a high level as far as skill and respect."
Switching to a beatsmith, Toomp has built an enviable reputation via a high work ethic and varied discography. In 2010, Toomp has worked with superstars like Jay-Z, T.I. and Kanye West on upcoming projects. He's also in the studio with young upstarts like Diggy Simmons. And earlier in 2010, released his "Re-Generation Project Mixtape" and produced a remix of T.I.'s "Yeah You Know" with Travis Barker.
With his partner, Bernard Parks, Jr.; Toomp also owns and manages his own label, NZone Entertainment.
