In what can best be described as an up-and-down year, T.I. has been one of the most talked-about personalities in hip hop recently. The rapper spent most of late 2009/early 2010 incarcerated following a federal weapons conviction, but upon his release in February of 2010, he engaged in a flurry of activity.
His first post-release appearance was at the For the Love of Our Fathers Alzheimer's fundraiser and in the summer of 2010, he gave free laptops to kids attending his K.I.N.G. Camp. T.I. gave a highly-rated interview on CNN's "Larry King Live" to discuss his future plans; and he also released the singles "I'm Back" and "Got Your Back" which peaked at #44 and #38, respectively. T.I. was also briefly Global Creative Consultant of Remy Martin Cognac.
The Atlanta native produced and starred in the action blockbuster Takers, which debuted atop the box office in its opening weekend. Unfortunately, the rapper was arrested a few days later and charged with violating his probation.
With his impending legal situation looming and the status of his next album unknown, it remains to be seen if the 'King of the South' will be able to sustain his momentum into 2011 and beyond.
