Eminem once again ascended to the pinnacle of hip-hop in 2010, scoring a monster hit with his seventh solo album, Recovery. With two singles reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and the album sales of 2.86 million copies, the album easily became the highest selling rap album of the year.
The rapper also Em also won two Grammys for his 2009 release, Relapse, and his four shows in Detroit and New York with fellow hip hop superstar Jay-Z, were the most talked-about events of the year, which each show selling out the first day that tickets went on sale.
The rapper appeared at the 2010 BET Awards and opened the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. Eminem made cameo appearances in the Adam Sandler film Funny People and on HBO's hit show "Entourage," reaffirming his reputation as a pop culture icon.
After years of well-documented familial and substance abuse issues, 2010 seemed to be the year Marshall Mathers finally found stability. "I save a lot of money by not buying drugs anymore," Em told the New York Times. "I invest. I always try to be smart. I try to treat all the money I’m making like it’s the last time I’m going to make it."
