Vanessa Satten is Editor-In-Chief for hip hop's most respected publication, XXL Magazine. In her two years at the helm, Satten has landed some of the most controversial and entertaining personalities and stories in the iconic magazine. Satten is also still a very committed journalist, and conducts several top-notch interviews herself--all while still steering the magazine into the future.

In 2011, she wrote provocative pieces on the 15 year anniversary of 2Pac's murder, legendary superproducer Dr. Dre, iconic lyricist Nas and controversial newcomer Tyler the Creator of the West Coast collective Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All.

For the 2Pac special, Satten herself tracked down Billy Garland, the biological father of the slain rapper. Satten also spearheaded the magazine's infamous "Freshman List," which this year featured such future superstars as Big K.R.I.T., Yelawolf, Cyhi Da Prynce and Kendrick Lamar.

"Technology is a beast, you have to keep up on everything that's going on and find staff that know how to do everything--everybody's got their individual fortes--and you've got to double up on content," Satten explained. "You have to be familiar with what you're creating and [your audience.]"
