Ice Cube's reputation as a hip hop renaissance man continued well into 2011, without he rapper/actor embarking on a dizzyingly varied array of projects. Having released his latest album, I Am the West in late 2010, Cube immediately jumped on the opportunity to spend the new year flexing his muscle in other arenas.
Cube headlined Powerhouse 2011 with fellow West Coast hip hop legend DJ Qwik. He contributed pieces of artwork that were inspired by his music catalog to help in his ongoing fight against AIDS. Proceeds from the sale of the works went to the Minority AIDS Project.
It was announced that Cube would be joining the cast of the upcoming 21 Jump Street Film, and Cube was also the subject of his own "Behind the Music" episode earlier in the year. Cube became a pitchman for Coors Beer in 2011, appearing in a very successful ad campaign for the brewing company.
Co-producing an upcoming biopic based on the career of his legendary former group N.W.A. He also partnered with Disney for his new movie Chrome and Pain, a gritty look at Los Angeles car culture that Cube himself is directing.
