Jimmy Iovine has had a hand in the careers of everyone from Bruce Springsteen to Snoop Dogg to Eminem to Lady Gaga. An industry vet with over 35 years experience in music on a myriad of levels, Iovine is one of the most powerful men in the recording industry. As chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M, Iovine oversees some of the biggest artists and imprints in music; including Aftermath Entertainment, will.i.am Music Group and Shady Records.
Throughout 2011, Interscope-affiliated artists dominated hip hop and pop; with Eminem and Royce Da 5'9's acclaimed Bad Meets Evil album, Travis Barker's "Give Tha Drummer Some and Game's The R.E.D. Album just a few of the projects that Iovine oversaw that went on to become successful releases.
His status as one of the industry's most respected minds landed him on the hit show "American Idol" as a talent judge and mentor. Iovine went to sign contestant Pia Toscano to his Interscope Records label.
Ever the shrewd businessman, Iovine's partnership with Dr. Dre continues to reap dividends, as the businessmen debuted a new wireless version of the popular Beats by Dre line of headphones. Additionally, smartphone manufacturer HTC purchased 51% of the company for a whopping $309 million in mid-2011.
Iovine also collaborated with Diddy and fashion photographer and visual artist Raphael Mazzucco on the coffee table book "CULO." Iovine was also interviewed for Steve Stoute's "The Tanning of America," which discussed the influence the hiphop generation has had on popular culture, politics and national consciousness.
