Jermaine Like Young Money superstar Drake in 2010, North Carolina emcee J. Cole came into 2011 with high expectations and mounting pressure to deliver on the promise he had shown on mixtapes throughout the year. Signed to Jay-Z's Roc Nation imprint and heralded as one of the most talented young rhymers in the game, Cole emerged as hip hop's newest superstar.

High-profile appearances on talk shows like "Last Call With Carson Daly" and "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" only helped to raise his profile. The rapper also joined Rihanna's "LOUD" Tour over the summer

His debut album, Cole World: The Sideline Story was released in fall of 2011 and debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts. The album also reached gold status in just two weeks and scored rave reviews from Entertainment Weekly, The Source, and XXL magazines.

He also appeared on Beyonce's "Party" remix. Cole also announced his first ever world tour, with the "Cole World Tour" kicking off in August and stretching through the end of the year.
