Aldrin "DJ Toomp" Davis
By Rayna Dean Friday, December 30th, 2011
Aldrin Hip hop has a wealth of talented producers. The boardsmen who provide the backdrop for many of today's biggest emcees are among the most gifted artists in the music business, but very few of them have the kind of longevity and consistency displayed by Atlanta's DJ Toomp. Toomp got his start working with southern hip hop pioneers like Rahiem the Dream and MC Shy D in the 1980s, and in 2011 is still one of hip hop's most in-demand beatmakers.

His career began when many of today's biggest stars were still in diapers, but Toomp is as popular as he's ever been--perhaps more so. He's produced hits for the likes of Jay-Z, Kanye West and Young Jeezy. This year alone, Toomp has worked with Roscoe Dash, Wale, Rick Ross, Fabolous and countless others. Toomp is handling much of the production for Ross' highly-anticipated God Forgives album, as well as Fabolous' Loso's Way.

Toomp is also diversifying and continuing to build his own company, NZone Entertainment. The indie label provides Toomp the opportunity to nurture and develop young talent on his own. He's signed talented newcomers like Suga Suga and Jack Bona. With the label continuing to grow and thrive, its not without reason to believe that Toomp will still be making power moves in hip hop over another two decades.
