There’s one man in hip hop radio that does not care how you feel. Charlamagne Tha God’s scathing sense of humor has become infamous. The controversial co-host of 105.1’s hit morning show “The Breakfast Club” is notorious for ‘going hard’ at the celebrities that come on the program, which has become the most talked-about new show in hip hop radio—with a large part of the credit going to Charlamagne’s brazen personality.
Twitter-beefs with celebrities like Marlon Wayans, radio interviews with acts like Lil Mama, disses aimed at everyone from superstar mogul Diddy to newly-Jewish rapper Shyne to Hot 97 DJs like Funkmaster Flex and Mister Cee, Charlamagne has made it a point to poke fun at seemingly anybody that winds up on his pop culture radar.
When so much of hip hop radio is focused on cow-towing to labels and artists, Charlamagne has become one of the biggest names in urban radio by being unafraid to be antagonistic. Regardless of how you feel about him, he knows that you feel something. And in radio, that’s what’s important.
