Over the past year, Detroit rapper Big Sean graduated from G.O.O.D. Music understudy to bonafide hip hop star. A hit album, hit singles, and cosigns by seemingly every notable rapper in hip hop helped fuel Sean's meteoric rise. A few standout appearances on national television shows like "106 & Park" also didn't hurt, and Sean has made the most of every opportunity.
Sean's debut, Finally Famous debuted at number three on the US Billboard 200 chart, with first-week sales of 87,000 copies in the United States. He performed at the 2011 BET Awards. He was also the first artist featured in MTV Jams' 2011 Fab 5 series. The Fab 5 is a collection of the most outstanding new hip-hop artists of the year.
Sean snagged the #1 spot on Billboard's rap singles chart with "My Last" featuring Chris Brown and its follow-up single "Marvin Gaye and Chardonnay" landed at #1 on the R&B charts.
His much talked-about style has garnered him much attention from magazines and urban clothing design brands like Billionaire Boys' Club, which has helped elevate the young star's reputation as a tastemaker. He hit the road with Wiz Khalifa and Chris Brown in 2011, and it looks like Sean's ride is just beginning.
