Big Boy's 5-10 a.m. weekday show, "Big Boy's Neighborhood," has pushed 106 FM into the stratosphere, giving station KPWR some of the most enviable ratings in urban radio. In 2010, Big Boy's show was No. 6 in the Arbitron ratings, morning drive, age 18-48 demographic
Already a titan of Los Angeles radio, Big Boy's online presence only grew in 2010 and 2011. His RadioBigBoy stream boasted some of the strangest moments of the year; he convinced country pop star Taylor Swift to rap a few bars of Eminem's "Lose Yourself" and Samuel L. Jackson read a children's story live on the air.
"We are up in every demo: 18-34 adults, men, women, 18-49 adults, men, women and 25-54 adults, men, women. While every day part looks great, I'm particularly happy to see Big Boy jump over half a share in his target demo," Jimmy Steal, vice president of programming for Emmis Communications, parent company of KPWR.
Throughout the year, Big Boy landed big interviews, ranging from comedian/talk show host George Lopez to Cash Money founder Birdman to rap superstar 50 Cent. "Just knowing that whatever is on your own life plate, being able to turn on that mic (microphone) is amazing," Big Boy said earlier this year. "Turning on the mic was very therapeutic."
