Riding the momentum from Nicki Minaj's platinum-selling 2010 debut Pink Friday, the label's fortunes continued into 2011. Lil Wayne's The Carter IV sold 964,000 copies in its first week and has sold over 1.5 million copies in the United States. The label signed DJ Khaled in late 2010, and his album We The Best Forever debuted at #5 on the Billboard 200, selling 53,000 copies its first week.
The label's prospects for the future look as bright as its current fortunes. Rapper Game has already announced that he is planning to join the Cash Money label when his current label deal expires following his next release.
Birdman also expanded the label's interest in publishing. Cash Money authors Muhammad Bashir (author of Raw Law: An Urban Guide to Criminal Justice, CMC), Ashley & JaQuavis the New York Times bestselling authors of the new series “Murderville" have all had successes publishing works under Williams' brand.
The label also signed international dance pop sensation Savvy in the summer of 2011. Proof positive that the man who made stars of the Hot Boys in the late 1990s isn't afraid to take calculated risks.
