50 Cent doesn't see much originality amongst up-and-coming hip hop artists. In an interview with HardKnockTV, Fiddy shared that when he receives demos from ambitious rappers, he's disappointed by how many of them seem to only copy what they hear. In particular, he said there are too many Lil Wayne wannabes attempting to break into the industry.
"I've heard demo tapes from ten different Lil Waynes that wasn't Lil Wayne. I'm like, 'D*mn, he's got that sh*t down packed. That sh*t just like Lil Wayne,'" 50 said with a laugh. "And then it's tough, how do you say it's not good if what's working right now is that? So you go, 'It's good but it's hard for me to really embrace it because you ain't Lil Wayne. You want me to invest the money in a copy?' Nah man, that sh*t ain't gonna work."

Rapper Enters A Plea In Aggravated Assault Case

Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane formally entered a plea in his aggravated assault case. The hip hop star, born Radric Davis, is accused of hitting a fan (and former soldier) over the head with a champagne bottle at an Atlanta nightclub.
The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that Gucci pleaded not guilty to the aggravated assault charge in a Georgia courtroom yesterday (May 13th.)He is currently out on $75,000 bond and according to his attorney Drew Findling, Gucci is "just going about his life."
Gucci was incarcerated for about three weeks following the incident.

Former Def Jam Senior VP Named Exec. VP of Urban A&R

Former Def Jam Senior Vice President of A&R, Michael "Sha Money XL" Clervoix, has been named Executive Vice President of Urban A&R for Epic Records. Sha Money will handle and oversee artist development and will help make recording decisions. In his new role, he will also oversee Epic's urban roster's development and expansion.
"Sha Money has time and again proven to be a cultural leader and has my complete support in ushering in the next generation of hip-hop stars," said Epic chairman/CEO "L.A." Reid via statement.
"As I embark on this new Epic journey," said Sha Money regarding his new position. "I have a great vision for what the new record industry should be like, the music, the experience and lifestyle."

''There's Nothing Wrong With Deleting...''

Nicki Minaj knows as well as anyone that social media can be quite double-sided. The Young Money rapstress began building a buzz for herself via MySpace before landing a major record deal, but she also became one of the most attacked celebrities on Twitter after her career took off.
In a new cover story with Teen PEOPLE, Minaj says she understands why anyone would want to walk away from social media sites.
"My journey to who I am today began on MySpace," she says. "I love getting real opinions from people. I used to read the bad things people said about me. Then I asked myself, 'Why am I reading that when I have millions of people saying great things?' You cannot give negativity power. I tell teens, if you're having a problem, there's nothing wrong with deleting your social media. If people keep taunting you and you keep reading it, it's poison."

Rapper Owed the IRS For 2009 and 2011

Snoop Lion has one less thing to worry about.
It was reported months ago that the hip-hop veteran owed tax money for two separate years--2009 and 2011. He's owed a few times over the course of his lengthy and profitable career, but Snoop has paid off a large portion of his debt.
According to TMZ, Snoop has paid $546,000 in tax lien. So he is no longer facing any serious repercussions for tax issues.
Snoop recently released his first reggae-inspired album, Reincarnated.
