Jay-Z & Eminem: A Concert For the Ages

Jay-Z and Eminem gave one of the most energetic performances of the year at Detroit's Comerica Park on Thursday night (September 2nd.) The legendary emcees were joined onstage by a few famous friends; as Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, and Drake all made appearances during the blistering set. Jay led off for Em, and brought out a number of guests including Memphis Bleek and former Def Jam labelmate Young Jeezy. Jay performed for over 80 minutes, with Bleek serving as his hype man during classics like "Big Pimpin.'"

The other high-profile guests showed up during Eminem's set, which ran for more than 100 minutes. Drake joined him for "Forever," a sort of return favor after Em appeared at the Toronto rapper's hometown performance earlier this summer; while 50 Cent and Lloyd Banks came on for mini-set of 50 Cent songs, including "Patiently Waiting" and "In Da Club." Most surprisingly, Dr. Dre actually performed. The producer has been something of a recluse lately, with Ice Cube and Snoop Dogg both commenting recently that they couldn't find the Doc. But he showed up in Detroit, ripping through "Still D.R.E.," "Next Episode," and even "Ain't Nothing But A 'G' Thing."

The show only raised already-high expectations for the follow-up, and Jay-Z and Eminem have to equal or better this superb show once they touch down at Yankee Stadium in New York City later this month.
