Rapper Talks Down Potential Jumper 10:00PM ET October 13th, 2010 Contributor : Hip Hop Blog Staff A Rocky Williform Company
Rapper T.I. somehow managed to talk a man out of jumping to his death from a 22-story midtown Atlanta office building on Wednesday (October 13th.) The rapper told WSB Radio that he was headed to a video shoot when he heard about the man threatening to end his life. T.I., born Clifford Harris, drove to the scene and told the police he wanted to help. Another officer taped a quick video message from the rapper, which was then sent to the man on the roof.
“Something in me just said, ‘man you gotta try and help. You gotta do whatever you can,'" T.I. said. [interview video here] "He came to the scene and offered to talk to him," Officer James Polite of the APD told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "We told the young man that, and he came down."
The story is all the more remarkable because of the timing; T.I. has a court hearing scheduled Friday following an arrest last month in Los Angeles while on probation. Despite his current legal situation, on this day, law enforcement was thanking him for helping. "He didn’t have to stop. He could’ve kept on going about his business," Polite said. “We’re happy it ended the way it did, and we thank him."
