Rapper Ja Rule has pleaded guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon from a July 2007 gun possession charge in Manhattan. Ja will serve two years in prison when he is sentenced in February. Stopped for speeding after a July 23, 2007 concert, police discovered the rapper had a weapon and that his vehicle had no insurance and suspended registration.
Ja Rule was arrested when a.40 caliber semiautomatic handgun in the rear driver's side door was found.
New York is known for its strict gun laws; which have led to prison sentences for rappers Lil Wayne and Prodigy and New York Giants receiver Plaxico Burress.
