Rapper's Streak of #1 Albums Comes To An End 7:00PM ET December 15th, 2010 Contributor : Hip Hop Blog Staff A Rocky Williform Company
T.I.'s return to prison has already started to have an effect on his commercial success. The incarcerated rapper's latest release, No Mercy, landed at #4 on the Billboard charts with 159,000 units sold. Its T.I.'s first studio album to miss the No. 1 slot since 2004, when Urban Legend debuted and peaked at No. 10.
2008's Paper Trail was his third No. 1 album in a row, and was released just before the rapper entered federal prison. But there was plenty of time for T.I. to promote that album--releasing singles and hit videos--prior to him serving his sentence. With No Mercy hitting stores after he had returned to prison, there has been a noticeable lack of promotion.
Tip was edged out of the top spots by Susan Boyle, Taylor Swift and the cast of "Glee."
