Gucci Mane Committed To Institution

After appearing before a judge on a probation violation charge on yesterday (December 3rd), Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane has been committed to a mental institution, following the judge's recommendation that he go to jail for the violation. The rapper filed for a "Special Plea of Mental Incompetency" yesterday.

Gucci's attorney, claimed the rapper was in no state to "intelligently participate in the probation revocation hearing" and was committed to the mental health facility for evaluation.

The rapper is to undergo mental competency tests while in treatment at Anchor Hospital, a 111-bed psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment facility near Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
