Kanye Restaurant Closing Explained

After reports hit the Web last week that rapper Kanye West's Chicago-Orland Park Fatburger restaurant was closing, an explanation was finally given for the abrupt shutdown of the eatery.

"From time-to-time, Fatburger Corporation and our franchisees routinely review the performance of each of our stores, and make business decisions regarding their continued financial viability," said marketing coordinator Maria Brooks. "It's unfortunate that the Orland Park location owned by Kanye West Foods, LLC has closed, but we hope to have a presence in the Orland Park community at some time in the future."

Kanye opened Fatburger in the summer of 2008, but the Orland Park location never caught on and didn't find sustainable success. The rapper's company, Kanye West Foods, also opened a restaurant in the Beverly area of Chicago.
