''Pink Friday'' Goes Platinum and Tops Album Charts

For all of her detractors, Nicki Minaj continues to jump hurdle after hurdle. The Young Money rapper has become the first female hip hop artist to have an album reach #1 on the Billboard charts since Eve did it way back in 1999.

Following a high-profile appearance on "Saturday Night Live" and co-signs from several celebrities, including Gwyneth Paltrow and Taylor Swift, Minaj's Pink Friday was the #1 selling album in America this past week. And the album has gone platinum, as well.

Eve's 1999 debut, Let There Be Eve...Ruff Ryders First Lady was the last #1 album by a female rapper.

"We finally did it! PINK FRIDAY is the #1 Album in the United States of America!!!!!" Minaj tweeted to her fans. "*faints* thank u sooooo much for the continued support!"
