Rapper Could Remain In Prison Until 2016

Remy Ma will be eligible for parole in January of 2015, according to court documents. The rapper, born Reminisce Smith, is currently serving an eight-year sentence in prison following her 2008 convictions on assault, weapons possession and coercion charges. She lost her appeal earlier this year, but will have a parole hearing in September 2014.

Remy's prison stint began on May 21, 2008, and she could remain in Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women until March 23, 2016.

The conviction stemmed from Remy Ma shooting her associate Makeda Barnes-Joseph during a fight over $3,000.
