Jason Mathis, the man convicted of murdering two men who shot Bay Area hip hop legend Mac Dre, has had his appeal denied, meaning his life sentence will be upheld. Mathis and rapper Mac Minister (Andre Dow) were both sentenced to life in July 2008 for killing killing Kansas City rapper Anthony “Fat Tone” Watkins and his partner Jermaine “Cowboy” Akins.
Mathis and Mac Minister reportedly used Ak-47s on the two victims in 2005 on the outskirts of Las Vegas.
The Nevada Supreme Court upheld Jason Mathis's conviction for killing the two men, which was reportedly in retaliation for Mac Dre's murder.
In May, Mac Minister's appeal was also thrown out and his life sentence upheld.
Mac Dre, born Andre Hicks, was killed in a drive-by shooting in 2004, as he drove in a van on U.S. 71, after a weekend performance in Kansas City.
He was 34-years-old.
