Leland Yee Hosts Raunchy Rapper At Fundraiser

Leland Yee, California State Senator, is in the middle of controversy over a fundraiser featuring explicit rapper Too $hort. $hort has voiced his support of Yee, who is running for Mayor of San Francisco. The senator will be hosting a VIP reception/fundraiser that will feature $hort on October 12th at the Rasselas Jazz Club.

Too $hort's raunchy lyrics have many criticizing Yee's affiliation with the veteran Bay Area rapper. Yee's staff defended the decision to work with $hort, however.

“Does Leland agree with everything Too $hort has ever said or sung about? No, of course not," Laura Hahn, a rep for Senator Yee, told The San Francisco Gate. "Too $hort wanted to use his celebrity to help elect Leland Yee and to get young people involved in the political process. We think that’s a good thing.”
