Monica discusses new album and lifestyle in upcoming reality show 12:00PM ET October 26, 2009 Contributor : Eddie Yancey, III A Rocky Williform Company R&B soulstress Monica is no stranger to success. Heading into the new century, Monica was one of the rising stars in the R&B game. Unfortunately, her stardom steadily declined, as she dealt with numerous personal issues including the suicide of her boyfriend at the time and her rocky relationship with rapper C-Murder.
Following Monica's lowest selling album to date (The Makings of Me), she is out to prove to her doubters that she still has that same star quality that gained her millions of fans. The Atlanta native returns to the spotlight with a reality television show, Monica: Still Standing debuts on BET tomorrow, October 27, at 10 PM EST.
The weekly documentary/drama series will take an in-depth behind the scenes look into the personal life of Monica as she lets the world into her day-to-day life for the very first time. The series will show how the entertainer deals with stress, trials, tribulations, her family and sons, as well as the makings of her fifth studio album "Still Standing".
Monica is a talented singer and entertainer. There is no questioning that. Hopefully this reality show will be real and genuine and not sensational and exploitive like so many other "reality shows." It's been a long time since that little Georgia girl with the choir ready pipes stole Black America's heart in the 1995 and only time will tell if those same fans are still interested in the all grown up Miss Thang.
