The Roots Honored With Mural

Philadelphia-based hip hop band the Roots will be honored with a mural on South Street of their hometown, a project which is set to be completed in July of 2012. The mural is in the neighborhood where group members Black Thought and ?uestlove initially hung out.

A formal announcement will be made later in November and The City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program plans to include multimedia elements such as video, online interaction and on-site activation.

The program will also emphasize city-wide involvement through paint days, pop up studios, a curriculum for a youth arts component called “Roots 101.”
