Alt-Rap Group Planning New Tour, Album 4:30PM ET December 3rd, 2011 Contributor : Chris G. A Rocky Williform Company
90s alternative rap stars Digable Planets have announced their official reunion and plans for a new tour and album. While the crew has performed sporadically as a unit over the years since their 1995 breakup, the original trio of Butterfly, Ladybug Mecca and Cee Knowledge (former Doodlebug) have not recorded any new material since 1994's Blowout Comb.
Digable Planet's 1993 debut album Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time and Space) won a Grammy and spawned the hit "Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat.)"
Since their amicable split, Butterfly formed the neo-soul act Cherrywine, Mecca released solo albums and Cee Knowledge performed with the Cosmic Funk Orchestra.
