Kels Giving ThanksAlthough he has a very controversial history, one thing that can be said about R. Kelly is that he gives back to the community. Whether through church events or by having local community drives, R. Kelly does his part in lending a helping hand.

Kels will continue his long standing tradition as a philanthropist as he will be hosting a special Thanksgiving dinner today, November 25, for 200 men and women soldiers from Walter Reed Army Medical Center and other United States Army locations in the Washington, D.C. area. After the supper, which will be at Washington's Constitution Hall, Kels will have a live performance which will be apart of his "Ladies Make Some Noise!" tour. The soldiers get to attend the concert as Kelly's guests.

It is true that R. Kelly has some events in the past that are worthy or a head scratch or two, but he has displayed his love for U.S. Troops. Look back to 2003 when his single "Soldier's Heart" became a huge statement song in the support of the U.S. citizen's fight in the war in Iraq. He also performed a free concert for 10,000 soldiers in Fort Hood, Texas that year. Love him or hate him, he gives back to those who risk their lives for the United States of America.
