Talib Kweli Criticizes Adidas

Brooklyn rhymer Talib Kweli ripped sneaker giant Adidas for their controversial "shackled" designer shoes. The sneakers were criticized for what some felt was slavery-themed imagery, and Kweli voiced his frustrations with the look via Twitter.

"WTF @adidas sneakers with SHACKLES? Which morons approved these? Do better," he tweeted alongside a pic of the offensive design June 18th. "@NickNoir @adidas the sneakers are historically ignorant. Are their more offensive things in the world? Certainly."

"@NickNoir @adidas aggressively markets to urban. They should know better & be more sensitive. So should the artist. Wack." he continued. "@Laxincat11 news flash. ALL should be offended by insensitivity to the slave trade, white OR black slave trade."

"@Laxincat11 newsflash- African slave trade built America & blacks twice as unemployed as whites today, said Kweli to supporters of the look. "Remove your head from your a**"

The shoes' released has reportedly been pulled by Adidas in the wake of the controversy.
