Ice-T Sued Over Gang TV Series

Rapper/actor Ice-T and A&E Networks are being sued by Roy Colbert of Los Angeles, who claims that they stole his idea for a TV docudrama series focused on gang life. Colbert filed the suit in Los Angeles Superior Court, stating that the two parties breached an implied contract in which Colbert provided the network's director of nonfiction and alternative programming Colleen Conway an idea related to the series on August 7, 2008.

Colbert says that the idea was based on his own experience documenting efforts to stop gang violence in 2004.

He also states that he presented his idea to Ice-T's manager Chris Smith, and that it was "fully and clearly understood" that the idea for the series was to only be used if Colbert was involved and compensated.
