BET Networks has issued a statement addressing the violent altercation that occurred this weekend at the BET Hip Hop Awards in Atlanta between rappers Rick Ross and Young Jeezy. During Saturday's (September 29) taping, the two reportedly got into a shoving match backstage before the fight escalated into the parking lot.
Initial reports claimed that shots were fired, but authorities later refuted this. Rick Ross protégé Gunplay was also involved in an altercation with members of 50 Cent's G-Unit camp.
"BET Networks works very hard to bring the best in entertainment to the city of Atlanta. For the past 7 years BET has celebrated the true art form of Hip Hop," the network said via statement. "Due to some misjudgment of select attendees, it is unfortunate that certain incidents took place. BET Networks does not condone any type of violence. Local authorities are working to resolve the situation as quickly as possible."
