Famed Brooklyn rapper Talib Kweli is to be honored for his career and accomplishments during a centennial celebration for the Brooklyn Music School. The school will also honor jazz bassist Bill Lee and vocalist Barbara King.
The celebration's goal is to expand the school’s network of patrons, musicians and community leaders.
“We are celebrating people and music coming together for over a century in one of the world’s most culturally vibrant and diverse areas,” Executive Director, Frank Alvarado said.
The event takes place on Thursday, November 1, at 6:30 PM. The Brooklyn Music School is a non-profit community performing arts school that was originally charted by the State of New York in 1912.
