Waka Flocka Discusses Early ATL Hip Hop

Waka Flocka Flame was interviewed by Nardwuar after a show in Vancouver, Canada, and the Atlanta rap star talked about his own legacy as an artist and the history of his hometown. Waka insisted that he was the first "punk rapper" and wanted to also acknowledge Atlanta hip hop's pioneers.

“Punk rap is the genre I created," Waka says. "This is punk rap when you listen to me. Yeah, first punk rapper. The first."

“You my n***a for this Kilo Ali right here. This the sh*t right here. Kilo Ali, that’s when I originally like first moved to Georgia,” said the rapper. “To the SWATS, to Diplomat Drive, Campbellton Road. Kilo Ali was Atlanta. You know what I’m saying? He was the guy to turn the parties up. Back when Freaknik was out. He’s Atlanta man. He’s one of em.”
