Common Supports Leonard Peltier

Rapper/actor Common is lending his celebrity to the fight for imprisoned Native American activist Leonard Peltier. Peltier is serving two life sentences after being convicted of killing two FBI agents in 1975. There has been substantial criticism of the trial and evidence presented against Peltier in the decades since his conviction.

In addition to Common, artists/activists Harry Belafonte, Jackson Browne and others will participate in the "Bring Leonard Peltier Home Concert" at New York's Beacon Theatre tonight (December 14th.)

"If I can really help a man be free from something he was accused of and is innocent and wants to be with his family, I can't get up there and say I can't do this because I may have a chance to get more record sales, or this film company is not going to decide to use me," Common said.
