Drake Can't Claim

According to the New York Post, Young Money rapper Drake has no right to demand payment for brands that use the phrase "YOLO" ("You Only Live Once.") Despite the fact that Drizzy's hit "The Motto," has popularized the term, the post discovered that the U.S. Trademark database shows several attempts to trademark the term.

A sportswear company actually filed for the trademark back in 1993, but the term is reportedly much, much older than that, even.

"But the acronym and the meaning behind it actually has a long history before the '90s, dating all the way back to the 1700s," the Post reports. "Meaning no one alive today can claim the blame credit for it."
