Meek Mill Revisits His Rise To Fame

Philadelphia-born rapper Meek Mill spoke to Fader TV about his background and what it took for him to go from an aspiring emcee in Philly to one of hip hop's newest stars."Being from Philly, you've got to know how to rap if you're gonna rap," Meek said in the interview.

"It's a million people that rap out here, it's a lot of good rappers, so, to turn out to be one of the hottest, you have to do a lot of practice because it's a lot of other guys out here that'll take your spot real fast," he explained. "I think being from Philly plays a big part in it. We're a strong city, we have a lot of talented rappers. If you want to be one of the best, you have to outwork everybody."

"I get inspired off of different things," Meek added. "I get inspired from LA, New York to Miami, even Philly myself. I just like to put myself in different moods and zones so I can make different music. You know what I'm saying? If you stay in the same spot -- the place you're at will inspire your music even more, so I like to move around. ... I'm never nervous about making my music. My fans like my music, they like whatever I do. They've been liking it so I always just do me and have fun with it and however it tunrs out, it turns out. I'm a critic of myself. If I like it then I think my fans will like it too."
