Rapper's Conviction Upheld By the Supreme Court 1:00PM ET February 19th, 2013 Contributor : Chris G. A Rocky Williform Company
Incarcerated rapper C-Murder, born Corey Miller, was convicted in 2011 of killing a 16-year old fan in Louisiana and sentenced to life in prison. Today (February 19th), he received news that the Supreme Court has rejected his appeal.
The rapper's attorneys sought to utilize a quirk in constitutional law that requires federal juries to reach unanimous verdicts in criminal cases but allows states to make different rules, as legal leverage.
Miller was convicted via a jury vote of 10-2. Non-unanimous convictions are allowed in Louisiana and Oregon.
