First Week 'Thank Me Later' Sales Strong 6:00AM ET June 23, 2010 Contributor : Hip Hop Blog Staff A Rocky Williform Company
According to Hits Daily Double, Drake's debut album, Thank Me Later has sold 462,989 units in its first week.
The figures haven't been 'officially' released by Billboard as of yet, but if these numbers are any indication, the Canadian-born rapper will have the highest-charting debut first week sales of the year. That Drake was able to reach such high sales figures in spite of an internet leak of the album prior to its release is even more remarkable.
But Drake was never worried. He addressed the leak when it happened weeks ago. "I always said if I had put out an album that was poor quality and music that people didn't enjoy, then I think the leaks would hurt me. Because a lot of the feedback has been great. The word of mouth, music is something that is to be enjoyed. I think it can help me so, June 15th, I'm still confident.”
