Most of the last decade, the Wu-Tang Clan languished as Ghostface Killah carried the mantle of the W, seemingly by himself, with a string of acclaimed albums. Last year, Raekwon's Only Built For Cuban Linx...Pt. II re-established the legendary wordsmith with a flair for dramatic coke tales as one of the pre-eminent rappers in the game and gave the Wu their most high-profile and well-received album in years. Raekwon recently announced that he was releasing a "Deluxe Gold Edition" of his stellar comeback album--complete with bonus material.
"I'm really excited about that," Rae told HipHopDX. "There's gonna be some new material and stuff that y'all never heard before. I'm just tryin' to just secure my fan-base. I'm lettin' 'em know that Rae is here. I'm not tryin' to do no five-year hiatus no more. I'm tryin' to be as relevant as I can right now." ...Cuban Linx, Pt. II landed on many Best Albums of 2009 lists and Raekwon sounds like he's reinvigorated by the success. "I'm workin' hard and I'm losin' a lot of rest to stand the test of time, and let everybody know that I'm still here."
